Well, my goal was to break the 4 hour barrier and as you can see I didn't do it.  BUT, I'm not disappointed.  First, it was a PR for me and second, I ran a good race.  I had a plan and I stuck to it.  The last 2 miles played a toll on me and about 500 yards from the finish line I was brushed from behind by a passing runner and I lost my balance and fell.  My legs were so toasty that I tried 4 times to get up and couldn't do it!  I was so close to the end that the barriers were up so no one came to my rescue until 3 guys runners stopped and pulled me up.  I finished after that.  Of course my Garmin had me going the distance of 26.5 miles.  I even did my best to take the shortest cuts along the route.  Half Marathon time was:  1:56:55 (my goal was a 1:56!)

For the curious, here are my splits:

8:55, 8:35, 9:00, 8:39, 8:47, 9:50 (HILL!!!), 8:41, 9:00, 8:48, 8:49, 7:59, 9:08, 9:00, 8:14, 9:05, 9:18, 9:31, 8:52, 9:07, 9:17, 8:31, 9:03, 9:34, 9:50, 9:46, 10:37, (.5 miles 13:15 including fall :-(

So, I have yet to break the 4 hour barrier...NEXT YEAR!!!!

Nice PR! Good job on finishing after falling down, hopefully next year you can knock the person down at the finish line as you are passing them :)

The fall and the rise of Barb to a PR - an example of courage and the spirit of the marathon. Well done, Barb; you'll break 4 next time...
