Well, had a tough work out today.  w.u for 1.52 miles then did 5 laps of 1 mile hard and 5 minutes of walking then a w.d. .83 miles.

mile 1:  8:41, mile 2: 7:43, mile 3:  8:13, mile 4:  8:23, mile 5:  8:15

Boy, I was pretty tired after this work out.  I need to do more fast work outs.  According to Jeff Galloway's prediction of marathon fitness, the 7:43 mile says that I could do a 4:22 marathon at the moment.  I suppose that's not so bad, but I'm shooting for a sub-4 hour marathon.

I think if you were in an actual race, you'd see a huge drop in pace and that's what you should go by. Training is training. We'll seldom feel our real power on a training run. (BTW, I give myself this speech on a regular basis. lol I do believe it and have seen it come true, but it's hard to remember.)

Hey Sno...I hear ya. Though, my fastest mile last spring was around 7:15 and that says I could run around a 4:06 marathon and that's about where I was at. I've noticed that training here in Guinea is definitely different than Mali. It's so much more humid and tropical here. The minimum temp I run in is 70 degrees and the min humidity is probably around 50%. So, maybe that slows me down. But no excuses! I'm still working on trimming down a bit and building some muscle strength AND working on form to avoid injuries. FYI heel is much better!
